About Us
History: Our organisation was first established to serve the local community in 1926.
Mission Statement: our YMCA aims to develop and offer quality youth and community activities and programmes in order to meet the social, physical, spiritual and educational needs of all age groups, especially young people.
Ethos: We value each individual for what they uniquely bring to our organisation and setting and encourage achievement of personal potential through providing encouragement, support and nurture.
How we are funded: As an incorporated Charity we are non-profit making and all monies raised through fund raising, services and activites are retained for reinvestment and improvement.
How we are managed: We are members of the National and International YMCA movements but are locally self-governing through a board of voluntary Trustees, allowing us to respond to the needs of the local community to support every life stage.
We support: the vision of YMCA England for an inclusive Christian Movement, transforming communities so that all people truly belong, contribute and thrive and its belief that all people deserve to have a safe place to live and the opportunity to reach their full potential. Affiliation also means that we are part of the World Alliance of YMCAs.
Our Services:
We seek to empower young people through inclusion and our services locally focus upon supporting children, young people, their families and the wider community of all ages.
We currently deliver a Nursery and Out-of-School Club for 0 -11 years; Early Years (Childcare) Apprenticeships and general Key Skills Training; Community Facilities and Activities; Room Hire and we are part of the local Sure Start Children's Centre.
